Reversible Flower Fairies

I present to you a rather fancy crochet project in the form of two lovely flowers that are more than what they first appear…

These rose and fuchsia flowers make beautiful decorations, but pull back the petals and you’ll find they form the dresses of charming little fairies!

These come from a fabulous book of reversible patterns called Reversible Amigurumi: Crochet Magical Fairies and Tales by Febby Pranajaya (Chibiscraft). It contains patterns for more flower fairies besides these two, as well as other fairy tale creatures, such as a mermaid who gets her legs and a dragon hatching out of an egg!

I made these in November as Christmas presents for my mum and sister, adjusted a little to suit each of them:

The rose, for my mum, was originally in shades of red - I made it in shades of pink as pink roses are her favourite :)

The fuchsia, for my sister, was actually based on the Lily Fairy pattern, adjusting the width of the petals so that there were four on each layer rather than three, and making the inner petals short and rounded.

I made sure they opened these presents at the same time as each other (to avoid spoilers). When they did, they both spent the next minute or two just turning them from flowers to fairies and back again with big smiles on their faces!

“Florie” “Lady Eva”

I highly recommend checking out these patterns, and the rest in Chibiscraft’s book - perhaps not something to tackle as a beginner, but for an intermediate skill level or above, these are some very clever designs that produce rather spectacular results.

Happy Crafting!
