Water Lily Granny Squares (also, hello again!)
Hello, fellow Crafters!
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? 2025 has been… rather a lot for me. Between the persistence of the medical issues from the end of last year (chronic pain in both my wrists 🤕) and moving house not once but TWICE, I haven’t had a lot of time or energy for crochet projects or blogging about them. 😔 But since the end of November, there’s been a bit of a lull, and I was able to make a few Christmas presents!
I made these water lilies, each attached to its own granny square “lily pad”, for my grandmothers. They were made using Anna Lisek’s pattern Water Lily Granny Square, which I adjusted to make them about half the size and to make the granny square in a style I was more familiar with making.
A Little Word on the Future
I’ve been thinking that Koalamea Crafts may look a little different moving forward. The chronic wrist pain I mentioned makes it difficult to crochet as often and for as long as I used to. You will still be seeing crochet content from me - for starters, there’s still a couple more Christmas presents I wish to share, as well as a new pattern due for release at the start of January – but this will have to be less frequent than before. This doesn’t mean I’m going to go quiet for 11 months again, though. I’ve been toying with the idea of expanding the focus of Koalamea Crafts to explore creative projects in other media; crochet isn’t the only craft I dabble in, after all. :)
My original aims with this blog, and this website as a whole, were to inspire creativity and spread a little joy. Whatever happens, these are still my intentions. So stay tuned for some new kinds of inspiration, and I’ll catch you in the new year!
Happy Crafting!
